Sir,

We wish to thank the authors for their valuable comments. [1] The patients and controls in this study [2] did not suffer from hypertension, which was enquired during history-taking as mentioned in the last paragraph of 'Materials and methods'. Blood pressure of all controls and patients was checked during their medical examination. Evaluation for activated protein C resistance (APC-R), fibrinogen levels, deficiency of antithrombin, Factor V, Protein C and S was done. [3] Protein S deficiency and APC-R were detected in one and two patients respectively. Additional parameters were not tested due to budgetary constraints. Normal blood counts and peripheral blood smear of the subjects of this study excluded common hematological disorders. A fresh sample was tested in all subjects minimum of eight weeks later as brought out in the 'Materials and methods' of the manuscript.
