We acknowledge the comments of Raina. ^[1] The aim of our study was to see the prevalence and risk factors associated with gestational diabetes using the International Association of Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Groups (IADPSG) criteria. ^[2] We concur with Raina on the limitations of the use of body mass index (BMI) in pregnancy although the literature does include studies that have used BMI. ^[3] The BMI data were not used for statistical analysis. For defining the socioeconomic status, the Kuppuswamy scale was used. ^[4] The study though was done in three referral hospitals of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India with most patients coming from urban areas.
