Sir,
We thank Raina S for the insightful comments. [1] The primary aim of the study was to determine the prevalence of peripheral neuropathy (PN) in newly diagnosed subjects with type 2 diabetes and to determine the risk factors for the same within this group. PN is known to be present in a significant proportion of healthy individuals, and it increases with age. Thus, the purpose of measuring PN in healthy matched individuals was to be able to evaluate data of diabetic patients with this data for comparison. We selected controls according to decades of age and their sex and 4 controls were chosen for 10 patients. The purpose was not to compare multiple parameters in controls, but rather attempting to obtain an estimate of the prevalence of PN.
